Make it an amazing week, friend!

October 10th, 2023

Resilience, the ability to bounce back from adversity, is a crucial skill to develop in all aspects of life. Here are 5 ways having resilience will put you ahead of the game:

  1. Coping with adversity: Life is full of ups and downs, and resilience helps us cope with the challenges that come our way. Whether it's a lost job, a breakup, or a health issue, resilience helps us adapt to change and stay focused on our goals.

  2. Mental health: Resilience is incredibly important for our mental health. People who are resilient are better able to manage stress and anxiety, and they have a more optimistic outlook on life. This is because resilience helps us develop coping skills and a sense of control over our circumstances.

  3. Relationships: Resilience is critical to building and maintaining relationships. People who are resilient are better able to communicate their needs and work through conflicts, which makes for stronger, healthier relationships.

  4. Career success: Resilience is a key factor in career success. It helps us stay focused on our goals, even in the face of setbacks and challenges. Resilient people are better able to learn from their mistakes and use those lessons to improve their performance.

  5. Physical health: Resilience is important for our physical health. Stress and anxiety can take a toll on our bodies, but resilience helps us manage those feelings and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Resilient people are more likely to exercise, eat well, and get enough sleep, which can lead to better overall health and longevity.

Lean into strengthening your resilience muscle. Like anything, when you start developing this skill, putting in the reps, it gets stronger.

With all that is going on in the world today, this is a weekly opportunity for us to share something good that has happened to us recently. Seriously. If you respond to this email, you get me. I’d love to hear from you!

The Outlier Project Retreat 2023

I am still trying to fully digest this last week and all that I learned, heard, and was a part of. It was a truly impactful week that I spent with my hubby and 30 other people. We stayed at the iconic Weekapaug Inn in Westerly, Rhode Island. The weather was perfect, the days were filled to the brim with greatness of some amazing people imparting their wisdom and experience on us. We dined together, did activities together, and leaned in to a transformational experience with open minds. I don’t know of anyone who didn’t feel like something magical happened there.

Here are a few quotes from the week that have stayed with me:

“The journey from failure upward may be the hardest, most worthwhile endeavor” -Jason Redman

“If you aren’t clear, you can’t win” -Dr. Jeff Spencer

“It’s time to start seeing pressure as privilege”, “Recognize when you are a liability to the team”, “Don’t miss the beauty in the breakdown” -Joanna Lohman

“It’s better to build a life of resiliency than of regret” -Merril Hoge

Challenge for the week: Pick 1 or do both:

  1. Join a group that stretches you. The kind that almost feels too big…and watch your life transform before your eyes. (If you aren’t yet a member and want join The Outlier Project let me know and I will get you a discount code)

  2. Sign up for a free class, but put in the work. Find something you want to learn or new ways you want to grow. Lot’s of people have free offerings, you just have to be open.

A quote that I've been sitting with this week:

âťť

“When life ambushes you, you have a choice in how you respond.”
