Make it an amazing week, friend!

How can you amplify the power within yourself to change the trajectory of your life?

The first step to creating a personal or professional growth plan is to clarify your vision and purpose.

What are your values, passions, and goals? What do you want to achieve in your personal and professional life? How do you want to grow as a person? Be as specific and realistic as possible, and write down your answers. This will help you focus on what matters most to you and align your actions with your intentions.

Discover the deeper “why”. Once you have identified your personal growth goals, ask yourself why you want to achieve them. What is the underlying motivation behind your desire to change and grow? How will your life improve if you reach your goals? How will you feel about yourself and others? Finding your deeper “why” will help you stay motivated and committed to your personal growth plan, especially when you face challenges or setbacks.

Pinpoint the obstacles in your personal growth plan. No personal growth journey is smooth and easy. You will inevitably encounter some obstacles and difficulties along the way. These could be external factors, such as lack of time, money, or resources, or internal factors, such as limiting beliefs, fears, or negative emotions. To overcome these obstacles, you need to identify them first. What are the potential barriers that could prevent you from achieving your personal growth goals? How can you overcome or avoid them? What skills, knowledge, or tools do you need to acquire or improve? Be honest and realistic with yourself, and write down your answers.

Get the tools and coaching you need. Personal growth is not something you can do alone. You need the support and guidance of others who can help you along the way. These could be mentors, coaches, teachers, friends, family, or anyone who can offer you valuable advice, feedback, or encouragement. You also need the tools and resources that can help you learn, practice, and apply your personal growth skills and strategies. These could be books, courses, workshops, podcasts, videos, or anything that can provide you with useful information, insights, or inspiration. Seek out the tools and coaching you need, and use them regularly.

Follow through and hold yourself accountable. The most important part of any personal growth plan is taking action. You can have the best intentions and the best tools, but if you don’t act on them, nothing will change. You need to follow through on your personal growth goals, and hold yourself accountable for your progress and results. This means setting goals, tracking your performance and outcomes, reviewing your feedback and results, and adjusting your plan as needed. Don’t be afraid to recalibrate if you need to. It’s never a bad idea to gamify things to reward yourself for your achievements, celebrate your successes, and acknowledge your efforts.

Just start with 1 small action step.

Then move on to the next.

You’ve got this.

I believe in you.

Tell me something good 🎵🎶🎵🎶

With all that is going on in the world today, this is a weekly opportunity for us to share something good that has happened to us recently. Seriously. If you respond to this email, you get me. I’d love to hear from you!

103 year old lobsterwoman has no plans of stopping.

Virginia “Ginny” Oliver, known as Maine's oldest lobster harvester, began hauling traps before the Great Depression, at 8 years old, with her father and older brother. This year is her 95th season out on the boat.

What a beautiful example that age is only a number and that how old you feel has way more to do with your mindset and outlook in life.

What is it that you feel “too old” to do? (insert giggling here 🤭)

Life is short. We don’t always get do overs. Do the things that scare you a little AND bring you joy. The world can feel really dark but please don’t let that extinguish your light.

Challenge for the week: Pick 1 or do both:

  1. What is something you think you’re too old for? How could you find the courage or the energy to actually be able to do it? Take 1 small action towards it this week.

  2. What is something that you have heard a family member or friend say they are too old for? How could you help them take 1 small action towards it this week?

Making someone else smile is contagious enough to cause a smile on your face as well. When you smile, your brain releases dopamine, endorphins and serotonin. These neurotransmitters are associated with lowering your anxiety and increasing feelings of happiness. That is a win-win!

A quote that I've been sitting with this week:

“Remember, we see the world not as it is but as we are. Most of us see through the eyes of our fears and our limiting beliefs and our false assumptions.”

Ever met an individual who embodies the phrase "rising from adversity"?

My guest, Kofi Douhadji, is that person. Kofi's journey from a small village in Togo, Africa, to becoming a serial entrepreneur, author, coach, United States Air Force officer, husband, and father is a powerful testament to the human spirit. In a world obsessed with materialistic success, Kofi’s story of finding inspiration in scarcity is a breath of fresh air. His unique perspective invites us all to view our challenges not as obstacles, but as stepping stones to greatness.

Kofi's talent for storytelling is the golden thread running through his narrative. Whether it's turning lessons into stories or using storytelling as a coping mechanism, Kofi has harnessed the power of storytelling to overcome, transcend, and inspire. But storytelling isn’t just about captivating an audience; it’s about creating bonds, fostering shared humanity, and driving us towards our goals. In Kofi's words, the stories we tell ourselves have the potential to either hold us back or show us what is possible.

But the real gem of our conversation is perhaps the concept of a ‘life constitution’. Kofi shares how Stephen Covey's 'Seven Habits of Highly Successful People' inspired his own 'Kofi constitution', which guides his life decisions. Diving deeper into this idea, we also explore the transformative power of meaningful conversations and the importance of a supportive community. Finally, we delve into Kofi’s venture, Flying Wings Publishing, a testament to the power of storytelling, meaningful conversations, and impactful connections. A thread that runs throughout our conversation is Kofi's emphasis on intentional growth and harmony, reminding us that self-improvement is a journey, not a destination.

So, buckle up for an inspiring journey that promises to kindle the fires of greatness within you.
