Overcoming Self Doubt and Building Confidence

This is an area that most of us struggle with at some point in our lives. Self doubt can be defined as a lack of confidence in yourself or your abilities and typically stems from negative experiences or situations.

The good news is that it doesn’t have to be this way. Here are a few tips to reframe your thoughts, start some new habits, and build a healthier sense of confidence in yourself.

1. Identify and challenge your negative self-talk. Pay attention to the thoughts that cross your mind when you doubt yourself or your abilities. Once you identify them, challenge them, and replace them with more positive affirmations.

2. Celebrate your strengths. Make a list of your unique qualities, achievements, and strengths and remind yourself of them whenever you feel self-doubt creeping in. You are you and no one else has that super power!

3. Practice self-compassion by treating yourself with kindness and understanding the way you would treat a good friend. Acknowledge that everyone has flaws and makes mistakes, and it's okay to stumble along the way.

4. Seek support and encouragement: Surround yourself with positive and supportive people who believe in you and your abilities. Pay attention to who isn’t supporting you in this process. Those may be the people you need to remove from your circle.

5. Take action: Build your confidence by taking small risks and stepping out of your comfort zone. Start with small tasks or challenges, and gradually work your way up to bigger ones. Develop a word or phrase you say to yourself when you need to interrupt the negative thoughts.

Remember, building confidence takes time and practice. Don't be too hard on yourself or expect instant gratification. Keep challenging yourself, stay positive, and celebrate your progress along the way!

Tell me something good 🎶🎵

With all that is going on in the world today, this is the opportunity for us to share something good that has happened to us recently. Seriously. If you respond to this email, you get me. I wanna hear the good and I’ll share with you too.

When it comes to social media….we can all get caught up in doom scrolling. I love when I randomly come across someone in my feed who is doing good things in the world. Those are the people I follow because II = IO. Input in equals input out. What you feed your mind continues to show up for you. I choose good.

I had a fellow named Jimmy Darts show up in my feed. This guy goes and seeks people out who look like they need some help, some are homeless and some are just hopeless. He talks and listens to them like a friend. He usually gives them $500.00 to help them out. He has a social media following of a couple million people. At times he sets up a go fund me account for the person he met and his followers come in guns a blazing!! They donate thousands of dollars collectively and bless the heck out of people who need it more than we could even imagine. THIS. This is the type of content I want showing up in my feed. Check out one of his videos below.

Also, I have a challenge for you this week.

Do something good for someone else. Being kind is as inexpensive as paying someone a compliment or giving them a big smile. Buy them a cup of coffee or lunch. Look at people…really look at them. Their eyes will often tell you what they need the most.

I can’t wait to hear what you did this week!!

A quote that I've been sitting with this week:

“Grief is not tidy or respectful of our wishes. It’s the fire alarm that loses the battery at 3:00am, incessantly showing up at the worst of times with a heart-piercing beep”
